Birgit Krippner | Horizont: {Suite} Wellington

Born in Austria, award-winning photographer Birgit Krippner has lived in New Zealand since 2003. Her specialty is capturing candid images using only available light. She often works in low light situations. In 2016 Birgit Krippner travelled on the ‘Spirit of Auckland’ from Wellington to the Panama Canal en-route to Columbia and finally Philadelphia where she disembarked. The images on display in this exhibition were made during Krippner's time spent aboard the ‘Spirit of Auckland’ container ship.
Krippner has exhibited internationally, including New York, San Francisco, UK, Paris, Berlin, Copenhagen, Auckland, Napier, Havelock North, and Wellington. Her works have been published in media like The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times, Bloomberg, The Wall Street Journal, Foreign Policy Magazine, Getty Images, Art Forum, NZ Life & Leisure Magazine, Glory Days Magazine, Metro Magazine, BSC News and Air New Zealand’s Kia Ora Magazine.
