Peter Peryer | Works made 2010 - 2018: {Suite} Wellington
This exhibition had been planned with the artist prior to his sudden death in November last year. On show for the first time ever are three works from 2018, including Tradescantia zebrina, an image of one of Peter’s favourite plants.
Described as “master of the obvious and simultaneously a poet of the elusive” (Peter Ireland), Peryer was the first contemporary photographer to be given a solo exhibition at a New Zealand public art institution (1977 at the Dowse Art Museum). He was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 1997 and in 2000 was one of five inaugural Art Foundation Laureates.
