Bruce Connew | Wayne Youle | Richard Lewer | Neil Pardington: {Suite} Ponsonby
This summer {Suite} Ponsonby is pleased to present selected works from our gallery artists.
Included are images from photographer Bruce Connew's acclaimed series A Vocabulary which has been shown at various regional galleries in the North Island since 2021.
Over several recent years, Bruce Connew has roamed memorials and gravestones of Aotearoa’s colonial wars, seeking out the texts on these testaments to folly. A vocabulary of colonisation. These remnants are scattered across mostly Te Ika-a-Māui North Island, residual memory, misremembered, not remembered. And there are those who know the Imperial story only too well.
Also included is a new lithograph by Richard Lewer, The Barking Owl , screenprints by Wayne Youle and photographs by Neil Pardington from his Behind Closed Door series.
