Overview
{Suite} Gallery is delighted to present works by Victor Berezovsky and Anton Hart for the upcoming 2024 Aotearoa Art Fair, 18-21 April.
With painting at its core, Victor has produced a diverse body of works for private galleries, institutions and public spaces. His work is often considered to have a strong sense of European reference and sensibility - creating a type of “Contemporary Folk”. This connection was deepened by living and exhibiting in Germany for seven years.
Born in Wellington, Victor graduated from Canterbury University, Ilam, majoring in painting. Since moving back to NZ from Germany in 2017, he has continued to develop his distinctive visual language, bringing together historical painting histories and responses to local stimuli from his immediate environment at the South Coast of Wellington.
Anton Hart is a an artist and sculptor with a long background in design and advertising.
His experience working with cutting-edge media and creative technology allows him to explore ideas about representation and identity in a new way, reinterpreting traditional images and objects using modern materials and techniques.
Anton's recent works are carved in sand, a shape-shifting medium which seems a ridiculous, almost impossible choice as a material to shape into solid forms.
Anton has collaborated with poet Jenny Bornholdt for this series of sculptures, Jenny has created phrases, three words at most, which merge into the work seamlessly melding poetry with sculpture.
