{Suite} Gallery is delighted to announce that Auckland Art Gallery, Toi o Tāmaki have acquired two major artworks by Richard Lewer for their permanent collection. The first work, New Zealand Disasters 2020, depicts significant disasters in New Zealand's history including the Pike River mine explosion, the Napier and Christchurch earthquakes and the Wahine Ferry Disaster. This painting was due to be exhibited at the new {Suite} gallery in Auckland but will now have its inaugural showing at the Auckland Art Gallery. The second work, Last Will and Testament is the artist's legal will painted on pegboard, and during his lifetime, Richard Lewer will have access to the work to update and supplement as required.
