Join Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery Saturday, Feb 13, 1 – 3 pm, for a special afternoon of conversations with Bruce Connew, Dr Rangihīroa Panoho and Catherine Griffiths, chaired by Andrew Clifford, on the closing weekend of Bruce’s exhibition A Vocabulary.
Over several recent years, Bruce has roamed the many memorials and gravestones of Aotearoa’s colonial wars to seek out and photograph the texts on these testaments to folly. ‘A vocabulary of colonisation.’ “These remnants are scattered across mostly Te Ika-a-Māui North Island, residual memory, misremembered, not remembered. And there are those who know the Imperial story only too well.”
Bruce and his collaborators will be discussing this engaging exhibition in the gallery’s Learning Centre – free & all welcome
