Tia Ansell in Art Collector magazine:
"Tia Ansell likes to know a city - its suburbs, buildings, colours and moods - intimately. This is why she always travels by foot. Her new weaving-paintings - sharp geometric patterns painted onto intricate hand-weavings - are based on drawings made on the loop from her home in Fitzroy to Melbourne's CBD and back. She uses the word migration to describe the circuit. It is a romantic way to consider the tracks we repeatedly tread between work and home - as being the result of an internal pull, a natural rhythm of the body as it is positioned against the outside world.
The pieces in her forthcoming exhibition 'Red Light Horizon' at {Suite} are love letters to these habitual journeys. The animal instinct and small joys to be found in them; the inescapable rhythms of our cityscapes."
