Jonathan Campbell & Ans Westra | Full Stop. New Sentence: {Suite}
In 1974 Greer Twiss made a series of sculptures titled ‘Full Stop’ to mark his father’s passing, using round steel discs that he saw as punctuation.
De-extinction and restoring lost biodiversity is an active science that I find intriguing. There are efforts underway now that hope to resurrect the moa within 5-10 years.
I have constructed vacuum packed specimens that are sealed for freshness and labeled for future research. There might be a chance to bring them back or they could be looked at as fossils.
It’s special to have some of Ans Westra’s landscape images as part of this show. Ans was a dear friend and introduced me to David Alsop and {Suite} Gallery in 2010, where we had a joint show together titled ‘Capture’. I like to think that these birds walked and flew through Ans’ photographs.
